Fundraising Events

Sunera offers its services free of charge to the disabled community in Sri Lanka. Much of our work is sustained through various fundraising initiatives such as high end classical concerts, theatre productions, musical shows, fashions shows, dinner theatres and other events by our supporters and friends organized, annually. We have had many entertainers and musicians of international acclaim, perform for us in the past.

1998 - 1999

Music brothers Rohan & Druvi in concert

Our very first fundraising event featuring Maestro Rohan De Saram on the cello accompanied by Druvi De Saram on the piano.

Maestro Dr. L Subramaniam

Internationally acclaimed violinist Dr. L Subramaniam and his group performed in Colombo in aid of Sunera.

2000 - 2003/04

Rohan & Stefan

World renowned pianist Rohan De Silva collaborated with Violinist Stefan Milenkovich to produce a world class fundraising concert for Sunera.

Glen Terry

Well known Jazz musician, Glen Terry and the Glenn Terry Group held three fundraising concerts for our benefit.

2005 - 2006

Barb Jungr

International cabaret singer Barb Jungr provided entertainment for our annual charity dinner in 2005.

A Night of Classical Harmony

The talented musical trio - pianist Rohan De Silva, violinist Stefan Milenkovich and cellist Ani Aznavoorian came together to host an extraordinary musical extravaganza at our charity dinner 2006.

2007-2008

David Nettle & Richard Markham

Britain’s leading pianists, David Nettle and Richard Markham mesmerised the audience at our annual charity dinner 2007 with classical and contemporary pieces on two grand pianos.

Rohan & Rohan

For the fist time ever, cellist Rohan De Saram and pianist Rohan De Silva collaborated to form a unique musical concert.

2009

Kishani Jayasinghe Performance

International Opera Singer, Kishani Jayasinghe accompanied by Christopher Glenn who is a professor of Music at the London Conservatory of Music entertained a full house at the Lionel Wendt Auditorium with opera classics and contemporary favourites.

British Council Concert featuring Martin and Alison

British jazz guitarist (and Grammy nominee) Martin Taylor and vocalist Alison Burns held a jazz concert at British Council on its 60th anniversary to raise funds for Sunera.

2011

Joshua Roman

The acclaimed cellist from USA, Joshua Roman accompanied by the talented pianist Eshantha Peiris held a delightful evening of classical music at Colombo, in support of our work.

“Are There More Of You?”

British actor Alison Skilbeck’s one woman show “Are There More Of You?” from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2011, was performed in Colombo in aid of Sunera. Alison played to a full house on both nights and the audience greatly enjoyed it.

2012

Koluu’s show

The Koluu’s show, staged every year by the Colombo’s well known actor Koluu Ranawaka to raise funds for a worthy cause dedicated its 2012 edition titled -‘Let’s Hear It For The Boys’ for the Sunera Foundation.

2014

Strings and Keys

‘Strings and Keys’, an evening of classical music featuring internationally celebrated violinist Stefan Milenkovich and renowned pianist Rohan De Silva was held in 2014 in aid of Sunera Foundation.

2015

Viocello

A classical music concert featuring Joshua Roman, acclaimed cellist from the USA and Sri Lankan born, renowned violinist Mandhira de Saram from the U.K and our very own Ramya De Livera on the Piano held in 2015.

2016

Rukshan Perera in Concert

A renowned Sri Lankan musician, who has been a member of the popular 'Super Golden Chimes' dedicated his 6th edition of the “Rukshan Perera, Live in Concert”, in aid of Sunera Foundation in 2016.

2017

Colours of the Silk Road Fundraiser Fashion Show

Colours of the Silk Road Fundraiser Fashion Show held in 2017 brought together an exclusive collection of hand crafted jewels by Kadambari Jewels and a matching collection of hand woven sarees and eastern ware by Rithihi in aid of Sunera Foundation.

2017

Young and Easy

Young and Easy – an evening of poetry and prose to celebrate the work of one of the twentieth century’s great writers: Dylan Thomas, was hosted by the British Council in aid of Sunera Foundation at the British Council Library.

2018

A Classical Trio

A music extravaganza by Sri Lankan born musicians -Rohan de Saram on the Cello, Rohan De Silva on the Piano and Mandhira de Saram on the violin played with musical genius works of Beethoven, Shubert and Brahms captivated the classical music lovers.

2019

Tribute to Mary Billimoria

Sri Lanka’s talented classical musicians of international repute Rohan De Silva, Sujeewa Hapugalle, Ramya De LIvera Perera and Soundarie David Rodrigo came together on one stage to pay tribute to the great teacher - Late Mary Billimoria who nurtured them on their musical journey through meticulous teaching.

2019

A Celebration of Song

Classical Music Concert held in 2019 featuring world renowned singers Sean Panikkar and Tharanga Goonetilleke who were accompanied by internationally acclaimed pianist Rohan De Silva. Together they enthralled the audience with classical pieces from Tchaivosky, Verdi, Racmmaninoff and Debussy among other composers.
